'Great decision', 'Tuchel is right': Some Chelsea fans love early team news coming before Brentford
Thomas Tuchel has revealed an early piece of Chelsea team news before tonight’s game against Brentford – and some Blues fans on Twitter are delighted with the announcement.
Tuchel confirmed in yesterday’s press conference that N’Golo Kante will be left out of Wednesday night’s cup tie away to Brentford.
The 30-year-old will be given tonight off to rest, despite the fact it’s the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup against Premier League opposition Brentford.
In fairness, the French midfielder played 90 minutes at the weekend in the draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers so soon after returning from injury.
Kante’s obviously a vital player within the Blues squad, which is why his manager Tuchel is opting for a safe approach with him given his recent record of picking up small inuries.
Chelsea fans back Tuchel decision
Of course, Chelsea are going to be a better team against Brentford if Kante starts. He remarkably returned to the XI at the weekend like he’d never been away to impress against Wolves, albeit he may not have looked fully fit.
A selection of Blues supporters on social media agree with Tuchel that it’s too big a risk to play him just a few days later, though.
The German boss mentioned that Kante will be working towards Boxing Day’s trip to Aston Villa in the league. That fixture looks an extremely tough one on paper given Villa’s form under their new manager Steven Gerrard.
