Saul Niguez’s Chelsea debut against Aston Villa on Saturday likely grabs the spotlight, but there have been mixed reactions to Thomas Tuchel’s decision on Callum Hudson-Odoi from the fans.

Thomas Tuchel understandably opted to make a few team changes and rest a few players who had a busy international break.

Thiago Silva, who was recently cleared to play by FIFA amid a potential five-day ban, will start in the back three alongside Antonio Rudiger and Trevoh Chalobah.

Having previously admitted that Jorginho looked quite tired upon his return from Italy, Tuchel opts to start Saul alongside Mateo Kovacic in midfield.

In attack, Hakim Ziyech replaces Mason Mount, while Romelu Lukaku and Kai Havertz keep their spots in the front three.

A section of Chelsea fans have prepared a special banner for Mount, so hopefully he can still make an appearance as a sub this afternoon.

The wing-back spots are arguably the most interesting, since Hudson-Odoi features on the right and Marcos Alonso on the opposite flank.

For Hudson-Odoi, a start is always positive news, and some of the fans clearly hope that he can capitalise on this opportunity.

On the other hand, some other fans were not as excited about the 20-year-old’s being deployed as a wing-back again.

Hudson-Odoi, naturally a left winger, has played in this right wing-back position several times under Tuchel last season but failed to cement his spot as a regular.

He obviously offers more as a left winger, but at the same time, there is a fierce competition for attacking spots at Chelsea, with several players arguably ahead of him in the pecking order at the moment.

These are a few reactions from Chelsea fans on Twitter to Hudson-Odoi’s inclusion in the team as a right wing-back.
