'So important', 'Feel so sorry for': Some Chelsea fans praise one player's display in 1-1 Brighton draw

Chelsea dropped points at home to Brighton on Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge – but some Blues fans on Twitter did praise the display from their player Romelu Lukaku.

The Blues recorded another draw in the Premier League after being held 1-1 by Brighton this evening, with the visitors snatching a late equaliser in stoppage time through Danny Welbeck.

Lukaku, 28, scored for Thomas Tuchel’s side after being promoted to the starting line-up in one of four changes.

The Belgian centre-forward netted in the first half, as he powered in a header from a Mason Mount corner.

Unfortunately, Reece James was substituted off midway through the first half because of an injury. In addition, Andreas Christensen was taken off at the interval as well.

Chelsea fans applaud Lukaku

A selection of Blues supporters on social media feel that Lukaku was a standout performer for them during a tough contest.

The left-footed striker popped up with his seventh goal of the season in all competitions, but delivered an impressive all-round performance to match.

He was involved in a fascinating battle with Brighton’s centre-halves and got the better of them more often than not with some exquisite hold up play.

It’s a massive positive that he lasted 90 minutes given it was is first league start since mid-October, too.

However, Chelsea dropping more points will be the big story of the midweek contest and they’ll head into 2022 knowing it’s a massive job to try win the title.
