Some fans react to Chelsea loanee Ethan Ampadu's debut for Venezia FC

All manner of social media supporters gave their opinion on Ethan Ampadu’s debut for Venezia FC following his loan move from Chelsea.

Ampadu made his first appearance for the Italian side yesterday evening, coming on after 38 minutes against Torino.

The Welsh international stepped into midfield and made a decent case for himself in front of the home crowd.

Venezia earned a point from the game, having gone behind in the second half.

Overall, Ampadu’s maiden match in Serie A went pretty well.

Fans from Chelsea, his native country and current employers all responded in good spirits to the 21-year-old’s performance.

Here’s how they reacted on Twitter:

Ampadu in action

If Ampadu can help Venezia survive this season and avoid relegation, he will be an even greater hit amongst the locals.

Last night’s draw was only the club’s fourth point of the campaign as they continue to languish in the drop zone.

But Paolo Zanetti must be pleased by the instant impact of the Chelsea youngster.

Staying up is paramount for both the club and the player.

It was no fewer than four months ago that Ampadu failed to keep Sheffield United afloat in the Premier League.

A successive demotion would not look great on the résumé, especially if the Welsh warrior has plans of prizing his way back into Thomas Tuchel’s squad.

Chelsea extended the versatile defender’s contract by another year ahead of his transfer to Venezia.

This might fill Ampadu with optimism that there is still a future for him at Stamford Bridge.

Or, it could simply be the Blues method of keeping his value high, if a buyer is waiting next summer.
