‘This one hurts’, ‘Pain’: Some Chelsea fans upset by what they’re hearing from their 25-year-old

Charly Musonda appears to have confirmed he will leave Chelsea the end of this season – and some Blues fans on Twitter are upset after hearing his comments.

Musonda, 25, has been on Chelsea’s books since 2012.

The Belgian attacker has had some horrendous luck with injuries during his career. Also, loan spells at Vitesse Arnhem, Celtic and Real Betis never really took off like many expected.

He’s played seven first-team games for Chelsea, but it looks like his Stamford Bridge career is drawing towards an end.

Musonda, who’s out of contract this summer, has said on Instagram he’ll be a free agent in June next year. In addition, he’s said he is already getting ready for what his future holds beyond Chelsea.

“Free agent, June 2022. Enjoying the final ride, while training and slowly getting ready for what lies ahead, with continued faith and optimism,” he wrote on social media.

Chelsea fans show Musonda love

Rewind several years ago and you’ll see some hopeful that Musonda could emulate Eden Hazard.

The creative playmaker does have bags of individual ability and skill, but has been a long way off showing that consistently on the pitch. It’s obvious injuries are his biggest obstacle, though.

He’s confirmed that he is continuing to train at Cobham and it’ll be interesting to see what the future holds for him next year. In addition, at least he’s been playing games again recently at youth level.

Musonda’s only senior Blues goal came back in September 2017 against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup, which was a moment warmly greeted by fans at the time.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media are gutted that Musonda has failed to carve out a future in west London.

Here are some Blues fans discussing his message:
