Thomas Tuchel has updated Chelsea fans on injuries going into this weekend’s game against Newcastle United, which includes news about long-term absentee Christian Pulisic.
First of all, Blues attacker Pulisic hasn’t played a game for the club since mid-August and has had to watch on from the sidelines.
The 23-year-old was back in training this week, something which delighted the Chelsea fanbase. However, they may have to wait two more games to see him return to action.
Blues manager Tuchel revealed on Friday that Pulisic is unavailable for tomorrow’s Premier League match away to Newcastle. He predicted he could be back next weekend against Burnley, so that would also see him miss Tuesday’s Champions League trip to Malmo, too.
“For Pulisic we are looking at the Burnley match. If everything goes alright he will be ready to play,” Tuchel said.
In addition, Tuchel shared that Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner are still unavailable because of their respective injures. Also, Mateo Kovacic has joined the treatment table with a hamstring problem. Everyone else in the squad is available, though.

Chelsea injuries highlight strength in depth
Chelsea are still going to name an XI this weekend that will be the envy of several Premier League rivals, despite the fact they’ll have four important first-team players missing.
It’s a relief to hear the likes of N’Golo Kante and Cesar Azpilicueta are available again after their midweek absences.
Tuchel still has a difficult job on his hands, though, selecting a line-up with all the talent at his disposal.
He’s trying to manage a squad stacked with star names, but everything he seems to touch at Chelsea turns to gold.

Pulisic on the brink of return
Everyone perhaps got a bit too giddy at the sight of Pulisic back on the training pitches this week.
In truth, the Blues need to be careful with the American attacker given his poor luck with injuries in the last couple of years.
Fans are patiently waiting to see the speedster back playing.
