Ben Chilwell's five word reaction after Chelsea loan star Conor Gallagher makes England debut last night
Ben Chilwell has sent a five-word message to England teammate Conor Gallagher after the Chelsea loan star made his senior international debut last night.
Crystal Palace midfielder Gallagher, who’s currently on a season-long loan at Selhurst Park from Chelsea, has been drafted up to the senior England squad from the Under-21s during the current international break.
The 21-year-old has been rewarded for his eye-catching form this campaign with his first England cap in Monday’s 10-0 thrashing of San Marino in a World Cup qualifier.
England and Chelsea left-back Chilwell has uploaded a message to Gallagher on social media:
“Congrats on the debut bro,” he wrote on Instagram.
Chelsea teammates next season?
For Gallagher, he’s now got his foot in the door with England and will be hoping he can make a spot in the senior squad a permanent thing.
The box-to-box midfielder is doing everything right out on loan with Palace to become a key player in Patrick Vieira’s XI. His ability to do a bit of everything both offensively and defensively makes him pivotal.
Some Chelsea fans loved what they saw from Gallagher last night and it won’t be a surprise if manager Thomas Tuchel is already thinking about a way of fitting him into the Blues team next season when his Palace loan expires.
Chelsea star Chilwell is a part of a strong English core running through Tuchel’s squad. It may be the case that Gallagher is soon added to that, too.
Paul Merson recently said that Gallagher is someone who “affects games every single time he plays”.

Gallagher’s the latest talent born out of the Chelsea academy to play for England
So many of the players on Gareth Southgate’s radar for England have roots that tie them to Chelsea.
For instance, Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori are two ex-academy players sold by Chelsea that have represented the Three Lions. Meanwhile, the likes of Mason Mount and Reece James are two important figures right now for England.
