James Maddison has claimed that he has been left really impressed by Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell during the international break.
Yesterday’s full debutant claimed in an interview with BeanymanSports that featuring on the left of a front three is made a lot easier by the threat of the wing-back alongside him.
Chilwell was making his first appearance in over a year for the international side, and he impressed at both ends of the pitch in what ended up a routine victory over Ukraine.

The Three Lions were up against Mykhailo Mudryk, however the winger seemed to struggle with the pressures of carrying the attack.
Injuries have plagued Chilwell’s time since he made the £50m move to Stamford Bridge back in 2020. However, his recent ability to start consecutive games is giving signs that he may be returning to his reliable best.
Maddison impressed by Chilwell
Maddison has claimed now that having him on the pitch yesterday made things a lot easier for him, as he was making his personal first start for his country.
He said: “People might look at the line up and see Maddison’s on the left wing, how is that going to work? But it’s actually a really nice position to be for a player like me.

“Especially when you have Ben Chilwell at left-back who is such a good runner and such a threat in behind that I can go and find the inside spaces.”
The duo are former teammates at Leicester, and Chilwell returned to his former home a few weeks ago for a Premier League fixture.
With the fanbase firmly against him and Wesley Fofana, the Englishman made his feelings clear towards the relegation-threatened fanbase when he opened the scoring in the eventual 3-1 win over the Foxes.
