Roberto De Zerbi has explained why he’s a huge fan of Chelsea loanee Levi Colwill.
De Zerbi, who’s the current manager of Premier League side Brighton, has got his side in the thick of a European push this season.
Levi Colwill is a young member of this Brighton squad who are sixth in the league table on merit.
The 20-year-old defender moved to the Amex Stadium on a season-long loan, with Chelsea deciding to give him his first taste of top-flight football.
He’s made 14 Brighton appearances so far this campaign and had some injury problems, However, he’s looked so comfortable in the starting line-up whenever selected.

Speaking about his defensive options, De Zerbi has highlighted how important Colwill can be in the Brighton line-up as a left-footed centre-back. In particular, he references the youngster’s passing out from the back.
“I know the quality of Levi Colwill. Levi is a left-footer and it is an important quality for us because with Levi we can find different line passes, different solutions in the build-up, in the last 40 metres,” De Zerbi said, as quoted by Sussex Live.
If you’ve watched Colwill before, you’ll know he’s a superb passer and very assured in possession.
It’s hard to believe he’s only 20 when you watch him play, so the Chelsea fanbase should be very excited about what lies ahead for him in the future.

The Telegraph claimed at the end of February that Chelsea are planning to give Colwill a new contract and use him in their first-team squad next season.
We still think the next permanent Chelsea manager needs to take a look at the squad before deciding anything, but Chelsea are dealing with a very serious young prospect with sky-high potential.
De Zerbi previously admitted he would like Colwill back at Brighton beyond this season.
At best, they can have him on loan next season!
