Chelsea’s Cole Palmer stole the headlines after his stunning performance in Saturday’s chaotic win against Brighton.

Chelsea continued their strong start to the season this weekend by recording a 4-2 victory at home to Brighton in the Premier League. Remarkably, every single goal of the six-goal thriller happened in an unforgettable first half.

Georginio Rutter opened the scoring for the visitors, but this was answered emphatically by a hat-trick from Blues talisman Palmer. Brighton’s Carlos Baleba then reduced the deficit to 3-2 after another error from goalkeeper Robert Sanchez. Fortunately, Palmer found himself on the scoresheet for a fourth time to cap a mesmerising display.

Palmer recently admitted he looks up to Manchester City’s Erling Haaland when it comes to finishing. Well, he’s proven during his time at Stamford Bridge that there’s not actually many better than him in front of goal.

The left-footed attacker now has 31 goals and 19 assists in 53 Chelsea appearances.

Alan Shearer amazed by Cole Palmer

Alan Shearer was blown away by the four-goal masterclass from Chelsea’s Palmer at home to Brighton this afternoon.

Shearer said via the Premier League’s official website (3:59pm): “Four goals eh? Unbelievable, special player. Great character, nothing phases him. Incredible ability.”

Cole Palmer out of this world

Chelsea fans won’t quite believe what they’re seeing from Palmer on a regular basis. If there were any doubts on if he could back up last year’s debut season, he’s quickly silenced that with a blistering start to this term.

So far, Palmer has been breathtaking in the opening weeks of this campaign:

Palmer’s catalogue of goals versus Brighton included a penalty and a long distance free kick. On top of that, the England star also netted two trademark left-footed finishes in open play.

There’s a lot of young talented player in the current Chelsea squad, but it’s pretty obvious who remains head and shoulders above the rest.
