Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling had a shocking performance in yesterday’s win over Championship club Leicester City.

That is according to BBC pundit Pat Nevin.

Chelsea edged out Leicester on Sunday with a dramatic 4-2 home victory in the FA Cup quarter-final.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side left it late with two goals in stoppage time to clinch the victory, setting up a semi-final clash with Manchester City at Wembley Stadium next month.

It was a weekend to forget for Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling, whose individual display was filled with high-profile errors.

Yes, the winger did provide an assist with a decent cross against Leicester. However, he also missed a penalty, fluffed a 1v1 against the goalkeeper, plus hit a comical free-kick into the stands before being substituted off in the 86th minute.

Pat Nevin strongly criticised the 29-year-old Blues winger after Sunday’s performance.

Nevin said via BBC’s Radio 5 Live’s coverage of Chelsea vs Leicester: “The storyline with Raheem Sterling, even before he missed his penalty, he wasn’t having a good day.

“He was having a stinker. He really wasn’t having a good day. His decision-making was awful.

“When he took that free-kick near the end, which almost made it into the second tier of the Matthew Harding Stand, it was almost difficult do it, the entire crowd turned on him.”

Raheem Sterling against Leicester

The international break now means Sterling’s got two weeks to sit and dwell on his poor performance in the cup.

Journalist Matt Law shared via X yesterday that Blues assistant Jesus Perez put his arm around Sterling when he left the field after the first-half in the FA Cup win.

Also, Journalist Nizaar Kinsella reported via X that Sterling was booed off by some home supporters in Chelsea’s win over Leicester.

His return of eight goals and 10 assists in 36 Chelsea appearances this season is a pretty decent overall return. We feel it does mask some of his indifferent performances, though, where he’s miles from his best level.
