Chelsea secured safe passage into the FA Cup fourth round by beating Morecambe on Saturday afternoon.

Chelsea avoided any kind of upset in the FA Cup this weekend by winning 5-0 against League Two strugglers Morecambe.

It was a surprise to see Blues centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo score a goal in each half, including a stunning strike in the second period. Christopher Nkunku also got himself on the scoresheet, even though he missed a penalty kick early on. Joao Felix then completed his team’s scoring with a quick-fire brace late on.

Enzo Maresca made 10 changes for the cup tie from last weekend’s Premier League draw against Crystal Palace, with Pedro Neto the only survivor in the starting line-up. Unfortunately, Chelsea youngster Samuel Rak-Sakyi missed the Morecambe match through illness.

Chelsea fans notice the same thing about Joao Felix

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media were keen to praise two-goal star Felix for his performance in the cup. In particular, they noted that his energy and effort without the ball was very impressive.

Here are Blues fans on X applauding the 25-year-old’s display versus Morecambe:

One fan wrote: “Joao Felix’s defence work rate is up!”

“Felix has to be given more chances. I think his work rate is good enough for Premier League,” another commented.

One supporter posted: “Felix works a lot harder than people give him credit for. He constantly tracks back and is always available to receive the ball. He needs more minutes in the league.”

“Fair play to Félix, he works much harder these days,” another noted.

One fan claimed: “Joao Felix has been exceptional. The goals, yes, but also the work rate.”

John Obi Mikel wants Chelsea attacker Felix to play more. Based off his eye-catching performance this weekend, it’s fair to say that it would be great to get the talented individual on the pitch more often.

The Portugal international was excellent against Morecambe as an attacking midfielder, but it’s hard to force his way into the side for the Premier League when Cole Palmer exists. Felix has only made 10 league appearances so far this season, starting three times.

Some people may look at him as a bit of a luxury player, but it’s great to see his energy without the ball picked up on by the fanbase.

Let’s see if Felix has done enough to put his name into the conversation for league minutes in the games ahead.

Felix is frustrated right now with his minutes at Chelsea, but there’s no suggestion that he’s looking at leaving the club. If he gets the chances, he’s got the skill to impact any game, plus it looks like his work rate is only improving.
