Nicolas Jackson helped Chelsea end 2023 on a high with this afternoon’s away win at Luton Town.

The Blues fanbase agreed that he looked much better operating from a wide position, too.

Chelsea secured three important points in the Premier League on Saturday after a dramatic 3-2 victory against Luton.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side know it’s been a very tough year for everyone at Stamford Bridge, but there’s reason to cheer after back-to-back wins in recent days.

It looked like Chelsea were cruising to a win courtesy of goals from Cole Palmer (two) and Noni Madueke. However, it was a very tense ending because of Luton’s comeback goals from Ross Barkley and Elijah Adebayo late on.

Nicolas Jackson against Luton

Nicolas Jackson put in the kind of performance versus Luton that may help get the critics off his back.

The 22-year-old’s been hit and miss as the centre-forward this campaign, but he looked a lot more comfortable as the starting left-winger this weekend.

He worked extremely hard all game up and down the left wing. Also, some of his hold up play was immaculate.

The assist he provided with a great through ball for Palmer’s second goal turned out to be the match-winner, too.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media all agreed that Jackson looked miles better starting from the left wing.

Here are some Blues fans on X applauding the young attacker:

One fan wrote: “Jackson looks a bit more comfortable down the left hand side.”

Another said: “Jackson way better on the left don’t ever wanna see him up top.”

A third posted: “I’m not gonna lie i think Poch might have finally got a lineup right. Jackson on that left is such a good outlet and Broja is a decent big lad to keep the attention.”

Another said: “Anyone else think that Nico Jackson just overall looks better and more confident playing on the left?”

A fifth posted: “Jackson looks better on the left and maybe even better playing with a proper left-back.”

Another claimed: “Jackson off the left looks so much more comfortable.”

Another said: “I can’t lie Jackson has been very decent on that left wing.”
