Chelsea were dumped out of the FA Cup by Brighton on Saturday night, and fans were all making the same point about Moises Caicedo after his performance.

The Blues suffered a 2-1 loss away to Brighton in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Even though Chelsea went ahead early through Bart Verbruggen’s own goal, Brighton responded with goals from Georginio Rutter and Kaoru Mitoma to win the cup tie.

Cole Palmer hopes to win trophies in his Chelsea career, but his team looks a way off that at this moment in time.

It’s been a really poor effort from Enzo Maresca’s side in the two domestic cup competitions this campaign, falling at the fourth round hurdle in both the FA Cup and League Cup. If they want to win silverware this season, it’ll come down to what they do in Europe in the Conference League.

Chelsea fans react to Moises Caicedo’s performance vs Brighton

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media felt like Moises Caicedo, 23, was their only player who deserves any credit from the Brighton loss.

Here are Blues fans on X praising the defensive midfielder’s individual effort…

One fan wrote: “I think Caicedo is the only player taking this game seriously. The rest thinks it’s a friendly.”

“Caicedo the only player that can hold his head up high after the game,” another said.

One supporter posted: “Caicedo has been unbelievable today. Shining light. Captain.”

“The only player showing any kind of intensity is Caicedo, rest all walking around chilling without any urgency at all,” another claimed.

Speaking last month, Maresca admitted he fears overplaying Caicedo in the Chelsea team. The truth is there’s not many alternatives, especially while Romeo Lavia is out injured. Caicedo should be thrilled when Andrey Santos joins Chelsea’s squad next season.

Moises Caicedo display against Brighton

Overall, Chelsea’s team performance was below par yet again. There needs to be a real look at why the form has fallen off a cliff in 2025.

If there’s one shining light, it’s Caicedo’s industrious work in the centre of the park.

Caicedo did his best in and out of possession to try inject some extra quality into Chelsea’s play this weekend. His teammates around him didn’t seem to show the same kind of desire or ability, though.

Based on current form, he’s the first name on the team sheet for the Blues’ next game, which is actually a return to the Amex Stadium next Friday to play Brighton in the Premier League.
