The sky seems the limit at the moment for Chelsea star Cole Palmer based on what he has shown in his first year and a bit since joining the club.

The England international has been arguably the best player in the Premier League since moving to Stamford Bridge. Jamie Carragher now rates Palmer above Phil Foden.

No one has contributed to more goals in that time than the Chelsea man, and his importance to the side was perhaps proven most against Arsenal in their last outing.

Despite not training for most of the week and Enzo Maresca admitting it would be a risk to even play Palmer against the Gunners, he was handed the start in arguably their biggest game of the season.

This came to the visible frustration of Joao Felix, who spent the 90 minutes on the bench despite his brace in the Conference League three days earlier.

Cole Palmer wants trophies and the Ballon d’Or at Chelsea

Palmer is locked in to a very long contract at Chelsea, which has actually already been extended a year based on him reaching and exceeding the expectations that they had of him.

One thing that has alluded him as of yet is a trophy won by the Blues, however he has stated that is amongst his goals for the rest of his Chelsea career.

He said to The Telegraph: “Trophies. [Ballon d’Or] That’s the aim. I’ve only been playing a year at this level.”

Conference League Chelsea’s best chance at a trophy this season

Chelsea’s best chance at a trophy this season will actually come in a competition where Palmer has not even made his debut in yet.

The star man has been left out of the Conference League squad to manage his minutes, although the much-changed Blues side has been far too good for all their opposition so far.

It is likely that he is included for matches towards the business end of the competition, providing Chelsea don’t slip up before they get there.
