It’s certainly been a busy start to July for Joao Pedro, joining Chelsea and making his debut for them in the same week.

Chelsea secured a 2-1 win against Palmeiras on Saturday to reach the Club World Cup semi-finals, and Joao Pedro came off the bench to make his Blues debut in the quarter-final victory.

Pedro, 23, is the latest player to make the move directly from Brighton to Stamford Bridge. Hopefully, he can emulate the success of teammates Moises Caicedo and Marc Cucurella.

Troy Deeney has tipped Pedro for success at Chelsea because he’ll get the platform to show the best version of himself.

The versatile attacker, who can play anywhere across the frontline, definitely adds some extra depth to the squad. On his debut, it was interesting to see him operate as a centre-forward after his substitution early in the second period.

“Joao Pedro is a serious player. So technically grounded,” another said.

Pedro claimed his best position is at striker after securing a move to Chelsea. Well, he certainly stood out when leading the line during the second half against Palmeiras this weekend.

The Brazilian forward deserves a lot of credit for slotting into the team so effortlessly for a positive debut.

With Liam Delap suspended for the semi-final showdown against Fluminense, we’ll be intrigued to see if Pedro is given the nod to start.

Chelsea figures are confident Pedro will hit the ground running immediately after his £60m transfer from Brighton, and it looks like he’s quickly got the fanbase firmly behind him.
