Chelsea fans made themselves heard during their side’s west London derby against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Some supporters went into the game already annoyed after Enzo Maresca named a very surprising starting XI. Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson and Marc Cucurella were all shock exclusions.
With Palmer and Jackson having just returned from injury, though, managing their minutes is important, especially with some tough fixtures coming up. Chelsea still have to play the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Nottingham Forest before the season finishes.
Before the Blues’ match against Brentford, they beat Tottenham Hotspur 1-0. Palmer was named in WhoScored’s Team of the Week, but there was no room for goalscorer Enzo Fernandez.

Chelsea fans wanted more from Enzo Maresca’s team
Chelsea were not the most exciting side in the first half of their London derby at the Gtech Community Stadium, and Brentford fans let them know that.
Chants of “boring, boring Chelsea” could be heard from the home support, something the away fans seemed to agree with!
Shortly afterwards, they started to sing, “attack, attack, attack” and “we’ve had a shot”, according to Sky Sports, clearly wanting more from Maresca’s men.
With Palmer and Jackson beginning the game on the bench, seeing Chelsea struggle against a very resolute Brentford side was not a surprise.
They just about won the reverse fixture earlier this season, beating the Bees 2-1. It was the match that saw Marc Cucurella do his penguin celebration for the very first time.

Chelsea team enjoying playing under Enzo Maresca
There have been loads of other games where Chelsea have not lit up the pitch under Maresca, yet the players still seem to be enjoying life with him at the helm.
When Levi Colwill spoke about Maresca last month, he said: “The way he teaches us every day has been top. I really enjoy playing under him and I know everyone in the changing room does too. Over time, you’ll see us get better and better because of him. I love the way he plays football, I love the ideas he has. I think he’s amazing.”
Colwill and Chelsea take on Legia Warszawa in the Conference League next before facing Ipswich Town in the Premier League.
Maresca’s men will be looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to Ipswich at Portman Road back in December.
