Chelsea star Cole Palmer has been speaking about how he and his teammates feel about their manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Mauricio Pochettino guided Chelsea to another win after they beat Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1 at the Amex Stadium, their fourth successive victory in the Premier League.

Following Newcastle United’s 3-2 defeat to Manchester United, the Blues have now moved up to sixth in the table.

They need just a point against Bournemouth on Sunday to finish there and qualify for the Europa League.

However, Chelsea could still drop down to the Europa Conference League if they come sixth and Manchester United beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final. Palmer scored his 22nd Premier League goal of the season at the Amex, equalling Frank Lampard’s tally from the 2009/10 campaign.

Cole Palmer on Mauricio Pochettino

While Pochettino has managed to turn things around at Chelsea of late, his job does not look completely safe.

According to journalist Simon Phillips, the club have an end-of-season meeting on Monday where everything is going to be reviewed.

Palmer, though, has made it clear that Pochettino has the team’s backing.

Speaking to BBC Sport after the Brighton game, the 22-year-old said: “Chelsea is a big club and everyone wants to finish higher than sixth but you have to look at where we were at the start of the season so to get back into Europe would be a step in the right direction.

“All credit to the manager. All the players love the manager and want to fight for him.”

Mauricio Pochettino deserves credit after Brighton win

Pochettino certainly does deserve acknowledgement after his side’s victory at the Amex.

Their form has really improved of late and the team’s attackers are firing.

As mentioned earlier, Palmer’s goal was his 22nd in the top flight, while Christopher Nkunku also managed to get his name on the scoresheet.

Right now, it is not a surprise to hear that the Chelsea players love their boss. It is the club’s owners, though, who Pochettino needs to convince.
