Chelsea weren’t at their best during Sunday’s visit to Manchester United, but they came from behind to earn a well-deserved draw at Old Trafford.

The Blues managed a 1-1 away draw in the Premier League against rivals Man United.

Bruno Fernandes broke the deadlock in the second-half with his penalty kick. Thankfully, Chelsea midfielder Mosies Caicedo equalised quickly after with a phenomenal volley from outside the box.

Jody Morris thought Chelsea’s Caicedo was the outstanding player on the pitch versus Man United, which should be a pretty popular opinion with his all-round quality work in the centre of the park.

Enzo Maresca applauds Moises Caicedo after Chelsea draw at Manchester United

Enzo Maresca, the Chelsea manager, did single out Caicedo for massive praise after his league display at the weekend. In particular, he mentioned the improvement in the 23-year-old star during his post-match press conference for the Man United game.

“Since we arrived, Moi is doing fantastic. I said during the week, the problem with Moi and Enzo [Fernandez] – these kind of players – is probably the big money the club paid. Everyone expects them to be the best but they are human and it is normal,” Maresca said, as quoted by Football.London.

“Moi is improving a lot. We are spending time with him and the rest to improve them.”

Jim Beglin was in awe of Caicedo’s “perfect” goal against Man United, which is not something that he’s known for. He does posses incredible technique with the ball at his feet, though.

Like Maresca mentions above, Caicedo is definitely taking giant strides forward in his game and improving as his Chelsea career goes on. He’s now bossing Premier League matches in a similar way that he used to do in Brighton colours.

Chelsea have to stick with their best midfield

Yet again, Caicedo and Romeo Lavia looked a class act in the central midfield area for Chelsea this weekend. The Blues were miles from their fluent best in the Man United draw, but the aforementioned duo were easily two of the standout performers.

It’s now three consecutive league games that Chelsea have started with a Caicedo-Lavia axis in midfield:

Darren Bent has said he likes Caicedo and Lavia together in Chelsea’s midfield, with the pair complimenting each other well in and out of possession.

Even though it’s pretty harsh leaving Enzo Fernandez out of the starting XI each week, there’s no reason for Maresca to split up the new-look pairing up in the upcoming games. Next in the league, they host London rivals Arsenal in a massive showdown in seven days time.
