Chelsea forward Raheem Sterling put in a fantastic performance in Saturday’s win against Championship side Preston.
That is according to BBC Sport pundit Danny Gabbidon.
The Blues ended up cruising through the FA Cup third-round tie with a 4-0 victory at home to Preston this evening.
In fairness, Mauricio Pochettino’s side were quiet first-half and the teams were evenly matched going into half-time.
Thankfully, Chelsea did manage to ignite a spark in their display during the second period. They scored goals through Armando Broja, Thiago Silva, Raheem Sterling and Enzo Fernandez.

Danny Gabbidon, who was on co-commentary of Chelsea vs Preston, was super impressed by the weekend performance from Sterling.
We don’t think the £50millon attacker (The Guardian) was at his brilliant best, but he produced a stunning free-kick to notch up his seventh goal of the season. Also, he assisted Fernandez late goal to add gloss to the scoreline.
When selecting his Player of the Match, Gabbidon told BBC Sport (7:11pm, 6 December): “I’m going to go with Raheem Sterling. He’s been a constant threat all afternoon. He works hard. His attitude going into this game has been excellent. He topped it off with a fantastic goal. A brilliant performance.”
He later added (7:25pm): “He’s been superb this evening Raheem Sterling. He’s epitomised Chelsea’s performance and attitude. So dangerous when he gets in and around the 18-yard box. A difficult man to stop.”
Raheem Sterling against Preston
Sterling, along with his Chelsea teammates, looked like he was enjoying the closing stages of the FA Cup tie when the result was in the bag.
However, we’re not 100 per cent sure that he’s done enough to force his way into the starting line-up when the Blues face Middlesbrough on Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup semi-finals first leg.
All eyes will be on Pochettino to see what he does with his XI.
