Chelsea have made it to the FA Cup final after beating Leeds United 1-0 at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.
It was Calum McFarlane’s first game in charge since the Blues parted ways with Liam Rosenior during the week.
So what did we learn about McFarlane and Chelsea after their 1-0 win at Wembley?
Calum McFarlane is ready to make unpopular decisions
Chelsea supporters got some insight into McFarlane’s mentality before the match even began. He made some very bold decisions, naming Alejandro Garnacho in the starting XI while dropping Jorrel Hato.
Garnacho’s form has been a real concern, but that did not stop McFarlane from starting him. As for Hato, he was one of Chelsea’s better performers under Rosenior and has become a popular figure among the fan base, but McFarlane was not bothered about upsetting supporters and left him out of his side.
Enzo Fernandez’s attacking positioning is world-class
It was Enzo Fernandez who opened the scoring for Chelsea with another header. The midfielder is only 5’10”, but that does not stop him from being an aerial threat for his side.
How clutch is Enzo Fernandez? We’re not going to be able to replace him…
The timing of Fernandez’s runs into the box and his positioning are why the Argentine is able to score headers and goals in general. World-class.

Pedro Neto is one of the most baffling wingers in England
Pedro Neto had a good game, setting up Fernandez’s header with a brilliant cross. He is quite capable of putting in a dangerous ball and getting past defenders, but Chelsea supporters do not always see that.
Neto can complicate things at times and do too much, or do the complete opposite and not enough. Following the Blues’ 3-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion, one video started to circulate where Rosenior was urging Neto to take on his man, but he refused to.
The Portugal international continues to be a bit of an enigma as he blows hot and cold.
Chelsea can pull out a good defensive performance
Defensively, Chelsea have been poor this season, especially in Rosenior’s final fixtures as manager.
However, they do have capable defenders, including Marc Cucurella. The left-back, Trevoh Chalobah and Tosin Adarabioyo all made good defensive contributions, while Malo Gusto offered a threat going forward. When Chelsea want to, they can defend.

Gusto and Sanchez excellent!
Chelsea should have sacked Liam Rosenior sooner
As brutal as it may sound, Chelsea probably should have parted ways with Rosenior much sooner despite the 41-year-old only arriving in west London in January.
Their display under McFarlane at Wembley has proven that Rosenior was simply the wrong coach for this group of players, whom he could not get a tune out of for so long.
