Getting Chelsea’s attack firing is one thing that Enzo Maresca has managed to do this season.

Chelsea have one of the best forward lines in the Premier League at the moment, with only Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur managing to score more goals than the Blues.

However, Chelsea’s attacking players were not at their best in the team’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United over the weekend.

It took a Moises Caicedo screamer to prevent Maresca‘s men from losing. “That is a hit and a half,” former Liverpool defender Jim Beglin said when discussing Caicedo’s goal.

Nicolas Jackson ineffective against Manchester United

Nicolas Jackson is one of those Chelsea attackers who has impressed this season, scoring six goals in 10 league appearances.

However, against United, the striker was nowhere to be seen. In fact, Gary Neville claimed he has never seen him so quiet before.

Speaking on The Gary Neville Podcast after the game, the United legend said: “They will be disappointed with, I think, [Noni] Madueke, they will be disappointed with [Pedro] Neto, they will be disappointed with [Mykhailo] Mudryk.

“I think Cole Palmer didn’t have his best game, Jackson was as quiet as I have seen. I think the forward players will probably feel like they could have contributed so much more to this game.”

TalkSPORT pundit Alan Brazil doesn’t think Jackson can win the Ballon d’Or. It comes after Jackson’s compatriot Kalidou Koulibaly claimed that he could one day.

Nicolas Jackson’s numbers vs Manchester United

Jackson certainly was quiet against United and not just because he failed to score at Old Trafford.

According to Sofascore, the 23-year-old only had one shot, which is quite disappointing as a striker.

It can happen, though, if you are playing in a big game where not too many chances are being created. Maresca will be pleased with what Jackson has contributed overall this season.

The £32m Senegal international faces another tough test this Sunday, with Chelsea welcoming Arsenal to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues will need to see more of him if they are to beat their London rivals and remain in the top four.

It will be a game that Arsenal will also be desperate to win. Mikel Arteta’s men now find themselves outside of the Champions League places following Chelsea’s draw with United and their 1-0 loss away at Newcastle United.
