There’s clear signs from the opening months of the season that several Chelsea players are improving and enjoying their football under Enzo Maresca.

The Chelsea squad looks as settled as it’s been in the last few years, something that head coach Enzo Maresca deserves big credit for.

Paul Scholes recently admitted he got it wrong about Maresca at Chelsea because he’s quickly stamped his authority in a positive way.

Levi Colwill thinks Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson is improving

Blues centre-back Levi Colwill, 21, has delivered glowing praise on club teammate Nicolas Jackson.

Colwill believes that the young 23-year-old Chelsea star is an “amazing” striker whose general play is really improving.

“Nico is an amazing player. He is still so young and his last season was his first coming into the Premier League. I thought he did amazingly with the chances he created, the goals he scored, and he does so much more for our team than people see,” Colwill said via Chelsea’s official website.

“Everything thinks because he’s a striker it’s about goals, goals, goals, which you do expect, but what he brings to the team is so more than that. He brings us up the pitch, wins fouls, the way he turns on the ball as you saw against Newcastle.

“He’s an amazing player and this season, step by step, he’s getting better all the time.”

Ben Foster said Chelsea’s Jackson doesn’t get enough credit, but it does seem like people are slowly coming around to his quality.

So far, the centre-forward has six goals and three assists in 10 appearances this season for the Blues. It’s his all-round game that has been as equally impressive, too.

Chelsea right to keep the faith in Nicolas Jackson despite exit rumours

Remarkably, Jackson was linked with a potential move away from Stamford Bridge in the summer. Even after scoring 17 goals for the Blues during his debut season, he still came under plenty of scrutiny.

Aston Villa looked at signing Jackson from Chelsea in August, but it’s a good job that he stayed in the capital.

It feels like Jackson has come through the early doubts at Chelsea to emerge as the club’s first-choice striker, which is some achievement when Christopher Nkunku is on the books.

For £32m, Jackson is turning out to be a superb transfer signing for the Blues and a great long-term investment.
