Chelsea came from behind to secure a much-needed win over West Ham on Monday night as Graham Potter suffered a loss on his return to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea won 2-1 at home to London rivals West Ham tonight in the Premier League. As a result, they’ve moved up into fourth position in the division table.

Jarrod Bowen put the visitors in front just before half time. Thankfully, the Blues responded with Pedro Neto’s equaliser in the 64th minute before Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s own goal.

Enzo Fernandez was the star in Chelsea’s player ratings versus West Ham, but there were some mixed performances under the lights at the Bridge.

Graham Potter comments on Chelsea crowd after West Ham defeat

Graham Potter was in the away dugout as the West Ham manager tonight. Incidentally, it was his first time back on the touchline at Chelsea since they sacked him in 2023.

During his post-match interview, Potter shared that he noticed Chelsea’s home crowd growing frustrated during the league contest because they were losing.

“You look at the second half, they had to make some substitutions. The first goal was a bit of a turning point for us. We thought it was a foul on Jarrod [Bowen] leading up to it and sometimes you need those things to go your way. It wasn’t to be,” Potter told Sky Sports.

“I could sense the crowd getting a little bit frustrated. Obviously Chelsea weren’t overly happy with what they were doing because they made all their substitutions. We were doing well but we couldn’t quite hang on.”

It certainly was a nervous game to watch for the Chelsea fanbase because the team’s form has been poor lately. However, Chelsea supporters were impressed by Enzo Maresca’s substitutions against West Ham.

Can Chelsea put together a positive run?

Chelsea are now back into the top four after this evening’s comeback victory, but now can they stay in there?

Here is a look at who the Blues play in their next four league matches:

Maresca’s side only had one win in seven league games before the West Ham result, so they’re under pressure from supporters to improve. It’ll be interesting to see how they cope with two tough away fixtures before two home games against clubs in the relegation zone.

It’s imperative that the Blues get back into the Champions League after two years away from Europe’s elite club competition.
