Chelsea’s trip to Goodison Park was one to forget for the club and Reece James.
Chelsea lost 2-0, a defeat that has seen them drop to 12th in the Premier League table, while Reece James had to be substituted in the first half because of another hamstring injury.
The right-back cut a frustrated figure and looked really annoyed as he came off the pitch, according to football.london journalist Bobby Vincent.
It is easy to understand why James was so frustrated. He has only just come back from an injury but is now facing more time on the sidelines.
It is really the story of Chelsea’s season, with so many other players already unavailable, which includes the likes of Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia, who are yet to play a game for the Blues this season.

Right-back has become a problem position for Chelsea
Before the campaign started, right-back looked to be one of the stronger areas of Chelsea’s squad.
In James, the Blues have one of the best right-backs in world football, while Malo Gusto is a capable deputy with so much potential at 20.
However, both players have been unavailable at times this term because of injury and suspension.
As a result, central defender Axel Disasi and left-back Marc Cucurella have had to play there during the current campaign. It is not their natural position, but they better get used to filling in there at this rate.
What makes matters worse is that James is now Chelsea captain, so not only are the Blues going into games without their first-choice right-back, but they are also going into them without their skipper.
The answer to James’ injury problems is not yet known. And if it stays that way, then the club are surely going to have to sign another player in his position for cover because it does not seem like Mauricio Pochettino can rely on the England international and Gusto right now.
