Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez really impressed Ally McCoist during one moment in his side’s match against Manchester United earlier.
Chelsea were extremely disappointing in the first half of their clash with Erik ten Hag’s team, but Robert Sanchez was nowhere near as bad as the majority of his team-mates.
And Ally McCoist, who was commentating on the game for Prime Video, thought a double save he made from Scott McTominay in the first 45 minutes was incredible.
Had it not been for the Spaniard, Mauricio Pochettino‘s side probably would have gone into half-time three or four goals down.
Sanchez has been far from a terrible signing for Chelsea, but the Blues are still being linked with other goalkeepers, including AC Milan’s Mike Maignan.
Ally McCoist impressed with Robert Sanchez’s double save
While McCoist thinks McTominay could have done better with his chances, the Rangers legend still thought Sanchez’s saves were incredible.
Commentating on Prime Video, he said: “Incredible, incredible double save. And I’m not sure, I might be doing him a disservice, I’m not sure how much he knew about it. Both of them straight at him, but you put it down as great goalkeeping.”

Chelsea’s long-term No.1?
Chelsea just bought Sanchez, for £25m (BBC Sport), and the former Brighton & Hove Albion man is still 26. Despite all of the talk about a new shot-stopper coming in, it is not impossible that Sanchez keeps his place in the team now and in the future.
He just has to keep playing like how he did in the first half at Old Trafford earlier and perhaps improve his distribution.
Sanchez has been guilty of kicking the ball straight to an opponent in a dangerous position at times.
The Spain international did it in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal in October and was punished for it by Declan Rice. If he can cut that out of his game, his future at Stamford Bridge could be quite bright.
Chelsea are a ruthless a club. Sanchez is doing good, but if he does not get to the level they want him to be at, then there is every chance they replace him. But based on what the shot-stopper has showed so far overall, he looks capable of being their No.1.
