Chelsea are keeping a close eye on AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

That is according to a report from Foot Mercato.

It claims that Chelsea are monitoring Mike Maignan‘s situation at AC Milan, with the 28-year-old still yet to sign a new contract at the San Siro. His existing deal expires in 2026.

The same outlet has also suggested that the Frenchman could cost more than €70m (£60m).

The Blues’ interest in Maignan is not new. They were linked with a move for him during the summer.

Should Chelsea continue to monitor Mike Maignan?

Chelsea signed Robert Sanchez from Brighton & Hove Albion in the last transfer window and he has not been a bad addition to Mauricio Pochettino‘s squad.

Since the Spaniard’s arrival at Stamford Bridge, you cannot think of him making too many mistakes, with one costly error against Arsenal being the only thing that really comes to mind.

Ultimately, Chelsea do not need to rush into making a decision about Sanchez’s future yet. With that being said, it is worth just keeping an eye on Maignan.

The France international has proven to be one of the best goalkeepers in Europe since joining Milan.

Back in the 2021/22 season, Maignan kept 17 clean sheets as Milan went on to win the Serie A title. No goalkeeper recorded more than the former Lille man.

If there is a genuine chance to sign him at the end of the season, we think it is something Chelsea should definitely explore. If not, then the Blues will have to go with Sanchez for another campaign or perhaps bring in Aaron Ramsdale instead.

The Arsenal goalkeeper has also been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge after losing his spot in Mikel Arteta’s team to David Raya. He now looks set for an Emirates exit.
