Chelsea fans were frustrated with their team’s performance against Wolverhampton Wanderers today and some of that frustration was vented at Nicolas Jackson.

With Chelsea trailing the game, Mauricio Pochettino decided to take off Nicolas Jackson and bring on Noni Madueke to try and change the match.

And according to Sky Sports journalist Adam Bate, the travelling supporters cheered when their striker was replaced.

It was not Jackson’s greatest outing in a Chelsea shirt; however, the 22-year-old is still the club’s top scorer in the Premier League this season, netting seven times.

It will now be interesting to see who starts up front for the Blues on Wednesday. Christopher Nkunku is fit again and managed to score in the 2-1 defeat at Molineux. The Frenchman could be an option for Pochettino if he decides to drop Jackson.

Chelsea need to sign a new striker after Wolves defeat

What today has shown is that Chelsea still need to bring in another centre-forward.

Jackson has done a decent job managing to net seven times in the top flight so far this season, especially considering that he has not been in England for too long.

However, the club are asking so much of the Senegal international, who is not even 23 yet.

The problem for Chelsea, though, is finding a world-class No.9. They are not on the market and the one that could have potentially, Victor Osimhen, has just signed a new contract with Napoli.

The Blues could always make a move for the 24-year-old in the summer, but Pochettino needs a reliable goalscorer now; otherwise he may not actually last that long.

Chelsea’s loss to Wolves was their eighth in the Premier League this term. It is not good enough for a club who would have been hoping to qualify for the Champions League at the start of the campaign.
