Marc Cucurella has explained what Chelsea did wrong in the 2-0 loss to Ipswich Town on Monday night.
The Blues conceded within 12 minutes as Liam Delap converted from the penalty spot after a controversial decision from referee John Brooks.
Enzo Maresca’s side were far from their best but did look likely to level the scoring until ex-player Omari Hutchison doubled Ipswich’s lead.
Chelsea then faced an uphill battle which proved insurmountable as they suffered their second consecutive Premier League defeat.

Marc Cucurella explains where Chelsea went wrong vs Ipswich Town
Marc Cucurella gave his verdict on Chelsea’s disappointing defeat shortly after the full-time whistle at Portman Road.
The left-back said the Blues were made to pay for their mistakes, assumedly Axel Disasi’s misplaced pass and Filip Jorgensen’s challenge on Delap.
However, the Spaniard went on to explain that the team ‘needed’ to stop ‘rushing’ in possession, which could be the reason they failed to score.
“We conceded the early goal and we had to play more with passing and then the second one we lost our way a bit with mistakes,” he told Sky Sports.
“We need to play always in the same style and take our time but we rushed and made mistakes. In January we have time to improve, train hard and continue.
“We need to play with the same intensity and desire. Sometimes we rush and rush to win but I think we have done well these first six months.”

Enzo Maresca needs to fix Chelsea issues quickly
One week ago, Chelsea were tipped to challenge Liverpool for the Premier League title. Now, after consecutive defeats, they are in fourth position.
Having also drawn 0-0 to Everton before, it’s now fair to say that the Blues are going through a difficult period.

Of course, it’s not the end of the world for Enzo Maresca’s side, who are still exceeding expectations, but things must change quickly.
Chelsea need to get back to dominating games. They have lacked control in recent weeks, as Cucurella pointed out, and struggled to create many chances as a result.
The defence also needs some work, albeit the goals conceded have largely come down to individual errors. The Blues’ game against Crystal Palace on Saturday has suddenly become quite important.
