Chelsea star Cole Palmer must be at the forefront of Mauricio Pochettino’s mind going into this Sunday.
The Premier League is back this weekend after the pause for the international break, with Chelsea travelling to Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon for a 2pm kick-off.
We suspect Mauricio Pochettino will have been keeping a close eye in the last week to see how several of his players performed while away with their respective nations.
The Blues head coach must have been impressed by Cole Palmer’s display for the England’s Under-21s side, scoring and assisting in a win over Luxembourg.
In our view, Pochettino simply has to pick Palmer to start against Bournemouth.
Despite dominating for vast periods of the opening four Premier League games, Chelsea have just four points on the board so far. The same issues in front of goal continue to persist, scoring just five goals in the four matches.
However, we’re pretty confident Palmer can provide a genuine goalscoring threat to the line-up if picked.
The attacking midfielder made his Blues debut before the internationals after just a couple of days at the club and is very new to the group.
We’re desperate to see him start in a No 10 position away to Bournemouth, though.
Palmer definitely has an eye for goal and a rocket left foot on him!
He scored two goals in three games this season for Manchester City before completing his move to Chelsea, plus he netted for England’s Under-21s side with an immaculate finish.
There’s not many faces around the Blues dressing room right now in good goalscoring form, but Palmer looks confident and must be desperate to show his new club what he can do.
Our message for Pochettino is to let the handbrake off by playing Palmer in a front quarter alongside Noni Madueke, Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Jackson.
Described as “very gifted” by Tony Cascarino (talkSPORT), Palmer could be the spark Chelsea needs in front of goal.
