Nicolas Jackson has been the go-to man at the pinnacle of the attack for Chelsea, but his form hasn’t transferred onto the international stage with Senegal.
Chelsea headed into the international break in a slightly disappointing manner after failing to get over the line against Nottingham Forest, despite playing against 10 men for parts of the game.
Enzo Maresca has completely transformed things at Stamford Bridge, with a stacked Chelsea squad that all want to play for him. This hasn’t always been the case in seasons gone by.
Nicolas Jackson has played a big part in Chelsea’s season, scoring three goals and assisting three in his opening eight games in all competitions.
However, Jackson was called into question after slapping Nottingham Forest’s Morato, but the FA decided not to punish him.
Now, he’s left his blue shirt behind and has whacked on the shirt of his home nation, Senegal.

Nicolas Jackson’s performance rated by the national media
Nicolas Jackson is used to having Cole Palmer lay things on a plate for the striker.
And when away with Senegal, Sadio Mane and Iliman Ndiaye are both high quality players, so the standard doesn’t drop too much.
Despite this, Jackson failed to have much of an impact on the game int he eyes of the Senegal media.
SeneWeb gave him a rating of 6/10 and had this to say.
“Often criticized for his lack of efficiency in the national team, Nicholas Jackson finally opened his account with a superb shot (77? minute) after an assist from Gana Guèye.
“The goal saved an overall lacklustre performance from the Chelsea striker, who did not worry the Malawian defenders too much.
“However, willing and available, he proposed several solutions through his calls, without finding the flaw again. Replaced by Habib Diallo, who missed a golden opportunity in the 88th minute?”
What are the stats behind Jackson’s performance?
He played 81 minutes, but it wasn’t the best of performances from the striker.
Jackson had one shot on target and one shot off target, completed his only dribble, had 31 touches, a passing accuracy of 82%, won three of his six duels, lost possession seven times, was fouled once, and made one tackle.
The one thing we did see from Jackson was his prolific finishing ability, which is something that he seems to have worked on over the summer, with it surprising Craig Burley this season.
