Mauricio Pochettino delivered an interesting assessment on Mykhailo Mudryk’s performance on Sunday in the 0-0 draw against Bournemouth.

There was more disappointment on the weekend for Chelsea’s travelling supporters, watching their side drop more Premier League points during a trip to Bournemouth.

The Blues continued their recent trend of creating chances and threatening to knit everything together, but they yet again were miles off it around the penalty box.

A 0-0 draw on the road is certainly not the ideal return for Chelsea after the international break.

Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino was asked about the performance of Mykhailo Mudryk this afternoon.

Interestingly, the Blues manager suggested the 22-year-old winger is getting better and it’ll take time for him. There a mention his game understanding needs to improve quite a bit still, too.

“He is improving. He still needs to learn in the Premier League, it’s very fast. He needs to understand the game better, try to be more connected sometimes with the team. We need to give the time and tools for him to improve during the season,” Pochettino told BBC Sport (4:23pm, 17 September).

Mudryk played an hour during his first Chelsea start of the season and he’ll hope it’s a building block for the next few weeks.

BBC pundit Glenn Murray noticed the Ukraine international lose his temper in the Bournemouth game (BBC). There must be a frustration within him that he can’t get on the scoresheet for the Blues.

It’s going to be very interesting to see if the manager allows Mudryk the chance to play through these mistakes with a run of starts.
