Lee Dixon was impressed with Mykhailo Mudryk’s performance for Chelsea against Crystal Palace tonight.

Mykhailo Mudryk opened the scoring in the first half after some good work from Malo Gusto, but Lee Dixon, who was commentating on the game for Prime Video, liked what he saw from the winger overall.

It was the 22-year-old’s third goal in the Premier League this season.

Last term, Mudryk failed to score for Chelsea at all following his move from Shakhtar Donetsk, showing just how much he has improved this season.

It was also his goal that took the Blues’ Carabao Cup quarter-final tie against Newcastle United to penalties after they had found themselves 1-0 down.

Lee Dixon impressed with Mykhailo Mudryk

Dixon enjoyed Mudryk’s display at Stamford Bridge earlier.

After one opportunity that the Ukrainian had in the first half, the former Arsenal player said: “Well Mudryk is pulling all the tricks out, really good football.

“[Dean] Henderson’s so quick off his line, that little backheel just puts him in and he’s just trying to lift it over Henderson. Goalkeeper does enough, presence of mind just to lift his arm. It’s a good spread. He’s started the game well, Mudryk.”

Mykhailo Mudryk should start against Luton Town

Chelsea’s next game is against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road and it is a fixture that Mudryk surely has to start.

Raheem Sterling will be back from suspension, but Mudryk has probably done enough to keep his place in the team.

Chelsea fans will not have forgotten about Sterling’s selfish act in the Blues’ 2-1 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers last Sunday either, so they may not want to see the 29-year-old return so quickly.

He had a glorious chance to pass the ball and give Cole Palmer a tap in at 0-0 but shot straight at Jose Sa instead, a decision he was heavily criticised for.
