Jermaine Jenas was left blown away by the performance from Chelsea’s Cole Palmer in the victory against Luton Town.
Cole Palmer, 21, proved yet again on Saturday afternoon why he’s been Chelsea’s best player so far this season.
The young playmaker was influential as the Blues secured a 3-2 away win at Luton, which earned them another three points in the Premier League.
Palmer scored twice at Luton, the first a powerful finish on his left foot. His second was even more spectacular after he showed real composure to go around the goalkeeper and finish in a crowded penalty box. He even assisted Noni Madueke’s goal to rubberstamp a man of the match performance.

Pundit Jermaine Jenas applauded Chelsea youngster Palmer after his match-winning display. He mentioned two impressive teammates, too.
“I thought for 75 minutes they looked very good… Cole Palmer was sensational,” Jenas told TNT Sports 1 (2:35pm, 30 December).
He later added (2:45pm): “There was a couple of really good individual performances. [Levi] Colwill was brilliant on that left-hand side. Thiago Silva, different class. Palmer.”

Palmer’s impact on this Chelsea side so far has surpassed any expectation we had on him.
The 21-year-old Englishman excelled in the No 10 position versus Luton, which is a role that really suits his game.
He’s now got eight goals and seven assists from his opening 19 Blues appearances, which is quite some going in a team that’s very inconsistent.
Speaking via TNT Sports earlier this week, Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino compared Palmer to Angel Di Maria. We’re definitely starting to see the similarities with the ball control and attacking threat.
It’s going to be interesting to see how he copes with the extra attention and pressure in 2024. Our guess is it’ll be no issue because he looks so composed and mature beyond his years.
