Mauricio Pochettino has now shared which player he previously coached reminds him of current Chelsea star Cole Palmer.
He told TNT Sports that he sees plenty of similarities between the England international and former PSG star Angel di Maria.
Palmer has been arguably Chelsea’s player of the season after making his deadline day move from Manchester City.
His absence earlier this week through suspension saw the Blues immediately lacking their creative spark.
When asked in an interview about comparisons, Pochettino didn’t hesitate to make pick the player described as ‘world-class’ as his measuring stick.
“In the position that he plays, and because he’s a left-footer and because he has some similarities and the quality, he’s a potential Angel Di Maria.

“Angel is a world champion [with Argentina in 2022], he was in Paris [Saint-Germain] with us, and is an amazing player.
“He [Palmer] has the capacity and the potential to be close to him, with time. He’s still far away, but this type of player that can link, can be a playmaker, have the capacity to score, assist, it’s this type of player like Angel.
“But of course he’s performing really well from Day 1, he’s adapted very well to the club, to the team-mates, to Chelsea life, and yes it’s amazing, because always you expect the player can perform well, but he’s doing excellent.”
Di Maria enjoyed a stellar club career with PSG and Real Madrid, however his career reached the pinnacle when he won the World Cup with Argentina.
He was part of the side that beat France in the final, when Enzo Fernandez announced himself to the rest of world.
