Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez played a big role in his side’s 2-1 win against Leicester City.

After losing his spot in the starting XI, Enzo Maresca decided to bring Enzo Fernandez back into the team for the game at the King Power Stadium.

The Chelsea manager‘s decision to do so was quickly justified when the 23-year-old set up Nicolas Jackson’s goal in the 15th minute before netting himself in the second half.

Former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy had a feeling that Fernandez would start, despite wanting Romeo Lavia to retain his place in the team.

Enzo Fernandez improving at Chelsea

Fernandez has quite clearly had his struggles this season, hence why he was dropped for big games against Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool.

In his first 13 games, the Argentine only managed to register one assist, which came against Servette in the Conference League.

However, in his last three matches across all competitions, Fernandez has recorded five assists following his latest at the King Power Stadium.

Ultimately, the Argentina international is starting to look dangerous again with his passing. Fernandez recently impressed the Argentine media with his last performance for his country.

Enzo Fernandez’s numbers against Leicester

Fernandez managed to score and provide an assist in Chelsea’s victory over Leicester, which would have impressed the away supporters. However, his all-round play also deserves praise.

The former Benfica man did a lot of good work off the ball, winning his duels and making plenty of tackles.

All in all, it was a complete midfield display. If Fernandez can put in similar performances going forward, then the World Cup winner will earn back his spot in the team.

Chelsea’s next Premier League game is against Aston Villa next Sunday, and Fernandez will now be hoping to start that match after his display at the King Power Stadium.
