What left Cole Palmer annoyed after Chelsea vs Brighton despite scoring four goals

Cole Palmer is the name on everyone’s lips right now after his four-goal display against Brighton in the Premier League.

Enzo Maresca has been around a number of top players at Manchester City, but Cole Palmer‘s performance against Brighton has to be up there as one of the best he’s ever seen.

The way the Englishman took the goals against Brighton was like having a prime Didier Drogba back at Stamford Bridge, with finishes coming from left, right and centre.

Interestingly, Cole Palmer is now the second player to score four goals in two separate Premier League games for the club, following in Frank Lampard’s footsteps.

It’s crazy to think that Palmer is already breaking these kinds of records at the age of 22.

However, four goals wasn’t enough to satisfy Palmer as he revealed what made him annoyed after the game.

Cole Palmer the perfectionist

Alan Shearer described Cole Palmer’s performance as ‘special’, and we can’t help but agree.

But, Palmer believes that it wasn’t quite perfect as he gave an honest interview after the Brighton game.

Speaking to the BBC Match of the Day squad, Palmer stated.

“I should have had five or six! When I missed the first chance I was upset but with the way they played and their high line I felt we’d get more chance.”

Cole Palmer’s stats vs Brighton

Cole Palmer had just 46 touches despite scoring four goals.

He had a passing accuracy of 68%, only made one of his four crosses and completed one of his dribbles.

The positives far outweighed the negatives, as Palmer made four key passes, completed six long balls, won three duels, was fouled twice and even had one block to his name.

However, the highlight of the game for Palmer has to be the free-kick, which whistled into the top corner from at least 25 yards out.
