He had an impression in his short cameo against Championship opposition, Preston, after being brought on for goalscorer Enzo Fernandez.

Mauricio Pochettino was clearly keen to give some academy starlets an opportunity, however looked to get the game wrapped up early on with a strong starting side.

Alfie Gilchrist, who has made himself some what of a cult hero early on in his Chelsea career, was given the start at right-back, and impressed greatly on his full debut.

Another youngster who took part was Golding, and it seems as if his time around the first team has not just been limited to the odd cup game.

Pictures ahead of tonight’s huge EFL Cup semi-final first leg at the Riverside have shown the teenager taking part amongst his peers.

Despite the fact that they are again playing against lower league opposition, everything Mauricio Pochettino has been saying has suggested that they are going to take the game as seriously as possible.

He claimed in his press conference that he was planning to go into tonight with the same side that he had for the FA Cup match, and therefore there may be an opportunity for youngsters to be involved off the bench again.

However, the manager will be more than mindful that now is the best opportunity for him to win his first trophy with the club, and his first in English football.
