Chelsea loanee Angelo Gabriel has just won the Player of the Month award for Strasbourg.

French top-flight club Strasbourg confirmed via X yesterday that Angelo Gabriel, 18, has been voted their Player of the Month for September.

Despite the fact he had no European experience prior to this season, Angelo has settled very quickly into life in France.

The Brazilian teenager completed a season-long loan move to develop in the French top division, which is working out extremely well so far.

He played in all four Ligue 1 matches for Strasbourg in September, starting three of them. The 18-year-old right-winger assisted in the 1-0 win against FC Metz, too.

Angelo caught the eye around Chelsea’s first team during the summer’s pre-season tour, which is why it was interesting to see him loaned out rather than kept at Stamford Bridge.

Gianluca Di Marzio previously reported that Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino wanted to keep Angelo with the Blues senior group this campaign.

You could argue that the skilful attacker already looks good enough to make an impact in the squad at Stamford Bridge. However, this year in France is doing wonders for his development and he should return such a better player next campaign.

Pochettino still has a lot of Chelsea players at the club right now, albeit there’s a long injury list. Therefore, the club had to send some its youngsters out on loan to play football.

Angelo is exciting Blues supporters with his dynamic performances out in France. You only have to watch him to see he’s a fearless winger with all the tricks in the book and quality when running 1v1 at defenders.
