Reports have claimed that Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has now decided that he does not want Angelo Gabriel to leave on loan this summer.

According to Di Marzio, the manager has now changed his mind after seeing the youngster feature in pre-season for him this summer.

Angelo was included in the squad travelling to the United States to take part in the Premier League Summer Series almost immediately after he joined the club.

He was brought in for around £14m, with Todd Boehly continuing to look to bring in a selection of the most promising players in world football.

The expectation originally was that Pochettino would be looking to send the Brazilian on loan for this season, in order to get regular first team minutes.

However, it has now been speculated that the manager has performed a u-turn on that decision up to now, and has the youngster in his plans for next season.

Angelo now likely to stay

The decision may also bring an end to some of Chelsea’s reported business they are still looking to carry out this summer.

It has been widely reported that they are not fully happy with their attacking options going into next season, and are looking at the market to address this.

Their search so far has led them to either Michael Olise or Mohammed Kudus, and they are facing top competition from the Premier League in attempts to sign them.

They are reportedly closer to bringing in the Crystal Palace man, with them already establishing a good relationship with the player’s family.

Roy Hodgson’s comments today that they have a fight on their hands to keep hold of him will only have encouraged confidence that he could be on his way to Stamford Bridge.
