18-year-old Chelsea youngster trains with Enzo Maresca’s squad ahead of Conference League game vs Heidenheim

It will not be long before Chelsea are really handed the opportunity to rest and rotate in Europe this season.

The Blues have already booked their place in the next round of the competition for next season, with Enzo Maresca’s side currently sitting top of the group.

The competition so far has been used for the fringe players at the club to get regular minutes on the pitch,

Some however have certainly taken their chances to earn themselves more minutes for the club. Pedro Neto now looks a key member of the starting lineup in the Premier League after originally featuring mostly in Europe.

The 8-0 win against Noah before the international break saw Maresca turn to youth. He handed Tyrique George his first start for the club at Stamford Bridge.

Maresca was delighted with George’s performance, and he will feel hard done by that he didn’t end the evening with at least one assist to his name.

There will certainly be an appetite to feature him more often in the competition, and the next opportunity to do so is tomorrow night against Heidenheim.

Pictures on the 5th Stand App have shown the 18-year-old training with the first team ahead of tomorrow, and he was not in the youth team squad for their game last night.

Can Frank Lampard kickstart George’s Chelsea career?

There are some that believe that George could do with a loan move away from the club in order to gain first team minutes on a more regular basis.

The perfect opportunity could crop up soon in the Championship, as club legend Frank Lampard remains close to taking over Coventry City.

Lampard could certainly help develop George, and is expected to utilise his Chelsea links if he did get the job.

Until then, George will look to make the most of his opportunities at Stamford Bridge, and the next could well come tomorrow night.
