Chelsea have declined since being taken over by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, yet they still remain a dream destination for some players.
Diego Moreira joined Chelsea from Benfica last summer and has told DH that he has achieved one of his goals by moving to Stamford Bridge.
The winger is yet to play a Premier League game for the Blues and is currently at Lyon on loan, but he was part of Mauricio Pochettino‘s squad for pre-season and says he learnt a lot during their trip to America. Moreira has made his Chelsea debut, however, making an appearance against AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup.
At Lyon, the former Benfica youngster has played nine times.
Joining Chelsea a dream for Diego Moreira
Moreira says he has achieved a career goal by signing for Chelsea.
On his move to west London and his pre-season under Pochettino, the wide man said: “I had a pretty crazy start to the summer. This is a goal that I achieved by signing for this great club and I have already been able to learn a lot there.
“In particular, I was able to participate in the pre-season and the trip to the United States in contact with all these great players.”

Diego Moreira could have a bright future at Chelsea
Moreira is only 19 but has already made his first-team debut for Chelsea and is currently getting minutes in Ligue 1, a top European league.
He could have a bright future at Stamford Bridge, but it is obviously early days and he needs to continue developing.
Chelsea’s current transfer strategy is a pretty interesting one. They have bought a lot of young players like Moreira who are not really ready for the first team.
But in a few years’ time, if they develop well, the Blues could have a lot of talented footballers in their squad who did not cost too much to acquire.
