Jamal Musiala, remember him?

It’s been pretty difficult for Chelsea fans to forget the teenager’s name since he departed Cobham in 2019.

After spending nearly a decade being propelled through the club’s ranks, Musiala moved to Bayern Munich a couple of years ago and has never looked back since.

Musiala’s magnificent journey

The junior forward arrived at the Allianz Stadium as not much more than a slender kid, with potential but plenty of room for growth.

However, across his time in Bavaria, the youthful attacker has matured into one of Europe’s outstanding talents.

He became the youngest ever league debutant for Bayern when he played the final two minutes against Freiburg not long after the very first global lockdown.

In his second season, the 19-year-old made 23 Bundesliga appearances and half a dozen in the Champions League.

His goal away to Lazio in the round of 16 tie made him Bayern’s youngest scorer in the competition.

Musiala also recently reached 50 top-flight German matches and guess what, he was the youngest player in the team’s history to hit such a milestone.

Jamal is a jewel

Whilst it was Hansi Flick who really provided the platform for such success, Julian Nagelsmann has arguably placed even more faith in the Chelsea graduate.

Nagelsmann has picked Musiala on 32 occasions this term; only five others have featured more.

Now, GOAL have honoured his rapid rise with a place in their NXGN 2022 list, ranking the ‘best 50 wonderkids in football’.

You need to scroll pretty far down to find Musiala’s name, considering he sits fourth overall.

In the medal positions are Barcelona’s Gavi, Florian Wirtz of Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund’s gem Jude Bellingham.

Chelsea are represented in the list by Levi Colwill, the defender currently out on loan at Huddersfield Town.

Keep flying the blue flag, Levi!
