Enzo Maresca will be sweating on the fitness of a number of his players as the final set of Chelsea’s international contingent return to training in the next 24 hours.

The likes of Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez will have just two days with the squad before they return to Premier League action with the trip to Leicester City.

One player who is unlikely to be available is Romeo Lavia after he withdrew from Belgium duty due to a hamstring problem.

It has unfortunately been a theme of the midfielder’s time at Stamford Bridge that he has spent more of that spell injured than not.

Chelsea’s Omari Kellyman close to injury return

Another player who has not had a good run of things since joining Chelsea is Omari Kellyman, who came in for £19m over the summer.

It was reported last month that Kellyman had suffered a setback in his recovery, with him making just two appearances for the Under 21s so far.

However, journalist Simon Johnson has issued a positive update on his fitness, stating he is set to return to training this month.

He said: “Some positive news for Chelsea summer signing Omari Kellyman after being out for 2 months with a hamstring injury. He is earmarked to return to full training by the end of the month in view of playing for the U-21s again in December.”

Kellyman could leave on loan in January

With him not yet in the plans for the first team, there may be an appetite to get the attacking midfielder a move away to get minutes under his belt.

It has been claimed Chelsea are planning on loaning Kellyman out in January, however this will likely depend on him being fully recovered from his latest injury.

The Blues will be hoping some regular playing time will help build him up to a level where he is pushing to compete for first team minutes in the near future.
