While Chelsea were not able to complete all the business they were hoping to during the summer transfer window, they still completed a few key deals.

As well as the well-documented desire to sell the likes of Romelu Lukaku, the Blues completed a number of key loan deals to help get the best out of some of their younger talents.

Andrey Santos is a player who many had predicted would be in line for first team minutes this season, especially with the plethora of fixtures the club will play due to their involvement in the Conference League.

However, it was deemed that a move to partner club Strasbourg was the best port of call after his impressive spell there last season.

The Brazilian seems to have picked up where he left off, with him already being named in WhoScored’s Team of the Week in Ligue 1.

Santos said last week that he felt at home at Strasbourg, however performances at this level will quickly see his home actually be in West London.

Competition for places in midfield at Chelsea

There is no doubt competition for places in the middle of the park at Stamford Bridge, with the £200m+ duo of Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo in control of the positions at the moment.

They are already under threat from Romeo Lavia following his excellent pre-season and first Premier League start for the Blues, however injuries do continue to cause a problem for the young Belgian.

Santos meanwhile has a very bright future ahead of him, and doesn’t at this stage look as if he is going to go the same route as Angelo Gabriel, who has just been sold to Saudi Arabia.
