Chelsea will be looking to bounce back from their defeat against Liverpool with a win on Thursday when they face Panathinaikos in the Conference League.

Chelsea lost 2-1 at Anfield, not putting in the worst performance, but Enzo Maresca will be expected to make changes.

His side have to play again a few days later, hosting Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.

As for their game against Panathinaikos, though, one change Chelsea supporters could see is Filip Jorgensen replacing Robert Sanchez. Jorgensen recently suffered an injury during the international break.

Filip Jorgensen hoping to get opportunity this Thursday

A suspected concussion saw Jorgensen miss Chelsea’s trip to Anfield, with the Blues following FA protocol.

However, there is a possibility of him returning for Chelsea’s upcoming Conference League tie on Thursday.

According to the Daily Mail, the £20m goalkeeper is hopeful of making Chelsea’s matchday squad for the Panathinaikos fixture.

Jorgensen could have the opportunity to put some real pressure on Sanchez. He did not cover himself in glory in Chelsea’s defeat to Liverpool.

Jamie Carragher was really not impressed with Sanchez after his role in Curtis Jones’ winner for the Reds.

Who else could come in for the Panathinaikos game?

Jorgensen is not the only player who will be hoping to start on Thursday. The likes of Renato Veiga, Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk will also be desperate for an opportunity.

Veiga was hoping to start against Liverpool following Marc Cucurella’s suspension, but Maresca opted for Malo Gusto instead, playing the right-back at left-back.

As for Felix and Mudryk, the former did not even come on at Anfield. The latter was not included in the matchday squad altogether.

With Premier League starts hard to come by right now, they have to make use of any opportunity they get in Europe’s third tier competition. And to be fair to Chelsea’s fringe players, they have done that so far, putting four past Gent in their first league phase game.
