The youngster earned his first call-up to the senior England team, something he fully deserved after a great start to life at Stamford Bridge.

He was one of a number of Chelsea players that Gareth Southgate wanted in his team, however he did not get his wish on a number of them.

Levi Colwill left the camp straight after joining up following a shoulder injury which kept him out of the last Premier League game,

The manager also admitted he wanted to call up Reece James, however the skipper decided that he wanted to work on his fitness at the club.

One player who wasn’t present despite being in good form was Raheem Sterling. This decision left a number of pundits completely baffled.

However, Palmer got a run out in both games, instantly being able to show his quality in the first match against Malta.

All eyes now turn to the return of club football, and Palmer will certainly be one of the first names on the teamsheet for the trip to Newcastle.

The fact he has been pictured back in training less than 48 hours after taking to that controversial pitch in North Macedonia shows he has come back with a clean bill of health.

Pochettino will be hoping the same occurs today when he gets Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez back from their own international travels.
