Journalist Nizaar Kinsella has claimed that Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson left Stamford Bridge with a very notable injury last night.

He took to Twitter to state that the 22-year-old was seen with his wrist in a cast after an issue he picked up during last night’s victory.

Chelsea picked up a much needed win last night in the EFL Cup, with Jackson very much at the heart of things up front.

He scored the only goal of the game as the Blues defeated a strong Brighton side, setting up a date with Blackburn Rovers in the next round.

It will have been a big moment for him personally finding the net, with it being just his second goal in a Chelsea shirt.

It came at a time where there is a bit of frustration surrounding him. He has already picked up a ban for five yellow cards in the Premier League in just six games.

However, Jackson’s performance and effort levels cannot be questioned last night, especially if he was doing so when injured.

Kinsella has claimed the striker was spotted exiting the stadium with a very clear support on his wrist.

He said: “Nicolas Jackson left Stamford Bridge with a splint on his wrist. He fought through, but maybe a minor issue for him. He was a warrior both mentally and physically.”

The aforementioned ban picked up by Jackson will see him unavailable for Monday’s West London derby against Fulham in the league.

Armando Broja now has two appearances off the bench off the back of his long-term injury suffered last season, and it remains to be seen as to whether the manager backs him for his first start of the campaign at the weekend.
