24-year-old now in line to start for Chelsea tomorrow against Brentford

Reports have claimed that Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is now likely to start for the club tomorrow in the Premier League.

According to the Evening Standard, the 24-year-old is now in line to captain the Blues against Brentford as they continue to manage Reece James’ return from injury.

Gallagher has enjoyed a really strong season so far, especially with the pressures that come from being as part of the midfield he is at Chelsea.

He regularly features alongside Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo, two of the most expensive players in their position of all time.

However, at times he has even been the most impressive member of the trio. He has started every game in the Premier League so far.

Last week against Arsenal saw Mauricio Pochettino tweak his system slightly in order to combat their impressive midfield.

Gallagher to start vs Brentford

He elected to play the England international in somewhat of a false nine role, with Cole Palmer joining him in the attacking role.

This worked really well, and he picked up the assist for Mykhailo Mudryk that made it 2-0 in the second half.

While they did not leave Stamford Bridge with three points then, the aim is clear to do so tomorrow in another London derby.

Now, it has been claimed that Gallagher is in line to start again.

Pochettino’s biggest decision will likely be as to whether he recalls a regular striker to his side in order to be tactically shrewd against Thomas Frank’s side.

Nicolas Jackson was on the bench for the match against Arsenal, although he has been up front for the majority of the season.

Goals have not come as freely as he would have liked though, and this leaves the manager making a big decision tomorrow lunchtime.
