Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella has told Mauricio Pochettino that he wants to leave Stamford Bridge.

According to the Daily Mirror, Marc Cucurella has held talks with Mauricio Pochettino over his future and has expressed his desire to move on.

The left-back only joined Chelsea last year, but his move to west London has not worked out.

He is yet to start a Premier League game this season, finding himself extremely low in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

Levi Colwill has been preferred to him in the left-back position, while Ben Chilwell was the first choice there last term.

Because of the above, it is not a surprise that Cucurella is eyeing an exit, which now looks to be in his best interest.

With Colwill being a centre-back, you would expect Pochettino to eventually move him to that position. But even if the Argentine does, there is no guarantee that Cucurella will get game time, with Chilwell still around.

Ian Maatsen is still at the club as well, so Chelsea have a lot of options for the left-back spot at the minute.

They need to let at least one of those options go, with that now likely to be Cucurella. However, with Maatsen’s contract expiring next summer, the Blues may need to sell him along with the 25-year-old.

With the transfer window not opening until January, Cucurella still has time to win Pochettino over. But if he cannot do that and continues to be overlooked, then a move elsewhere would be wise.
